Additional Support Needs
Larkhall Academy has an integrated Additional Support Needs (ASN) department located within the school.
This provision provides bespoke education to pupils with Additional Support Needs who are allocated a place via the ASN secondary allocation forum.
The goal of the department is to fully support each pupil based on their individual needs and remove any potential barriers they may have to their education. Staff work together to provide not only a high level of education for the young people in the department but also to support their physical wellbeing.
Each class has a maximum of ten pupils and is supported at all times by a teacher and a classroom assistant. Pupils have a supervised break and lunch area and can access extra-curricular clubs during their lunchtime. Some of our pupils transition into the wider school for a number of different classes to receive an education that is paced and challenging for them.
