Peer Education

Peer Education involves our S6 pupils in four activities: Buddying, Classroom Assistants, Primary Assistants and Paired Readers/Learners. Each senior pupil involved attends a training morning in June, where they receive a pack of information, advice, training materials, log books and a much coveted badge!

We have also set up a group on Edmodo which is used to highlight key dates, helpful advice and provide support. There's some more information on Edmodo in our 'Useful Links' section. The department also uses Twitter to aid this process.

We have a fantastic group of S6 pupils who have volunteered in large numbers and who provide invaluable support to our S1-S3 pupils.

Pupils can use their Peer Education activities as evidence for the Saltire Awards. These are Scottish Government Awards for volunteer work. Last year around 20 of our pupils received these awards, some achieving Gold and Silver Awards for up to 500 hours of Community work. Undoubtedly this award helps the CVs of our young people stand out with Universities, Colleges and Employers.
