Physical Education - Celebrating Success

Larkhall Academy PE department aim to recognise the sporting achievements of our talented, hard working young people. Below you will see some of their recent success stories.

Trampolining Success

Lorna Pitkethley - S3

Congratulations to Lorna Pitkethley, who won a silver medal for the double mini trampoline at the NDP Scottish National Qualifier in Perth despite suffering from an injured foot.

Equestrian Vaulting Success

Mhairi Hume - S5

A massive Congratulations to S5 pupil, Mhairi Hume. Mhairi recently qualified and was only one of three who competed for Great Britain at the European Equestrian Vaulting Championships in Hungary.

 Mhairi trains twice a week in Perth and hopes to compete at the World Championships and World Equestrian Games after her success representing GB at the recent European Championships.

Yachting Success

Chloe Aitken - S6

Congratulations to S6 Pupil Chloe Aitken. Chloe has recently achieved the following awards:


Royal Yachting Association

•Safe Fun                    

•Safeguarding Awareness     

•Essential Navigation

•Competent Crew

•First Aid


Chloe has also sailed 552 nautical miles tidal around the west coast of Scotland and is a member of the Ocean Youth Trust Scotland and is working her Day Skipper status.

 Football Success


Congratulations to Darcy Miller (S4), Ellie Currie and Hannah Braid (both S3). All three girls played in the Hamilton Accies U15 team that recently won the Scottish South West League Cup at Toryglen, winning 7-0 against Ayr United in the final.

Team captain Darcy Miller scored and also had three assists with goal keeper Ellie Currie keeping another clean sheet. Hannah Braid also had another strong performance.


The girls generally train twice weekly at Hamilton Palace sports grounds as well as playing Saturday and midweek matches.
